To promote the progress of science and fundamental technology in industry by providing highly professional technical support and exploring new academic research areas related to the evolution of new industrial developments, industrial applications, and areas having the potential to make significant contributions to society.
SPring-8 is an advanced large-scale research facility open to industry, academia, and government institutes. To date several excellent new research tools utilizing high brilliance synchrotron radiation have been invented and used for studies in the field of advanced science and technology. These tools (seeds) are expected to produce many more remarkable results and maximize the value of SPring-8 when they are combined with their appropriate targets (needs). Following the construction phase of SPring-8, we are now moving into the utilization phase. To further promote productive use of the facility we have strengthened our support system for users with an increased number of staff. In particular, we recently constructed a new beamline, and now operate a total of three public beamlines for industrial applications research.
